District 125 Family,
I hope everyone is enjoying our beautiful weather and the remaining weeks of summer. We are eager to welcome all of our students back on Tuesday, August 23rd for the first day of the 2022-23 school year. (Please note that the first day back is a half-day for our students.)
Summer is always a busy time with critical building improvements facilitated by our incredible Buildings and Grounds Department. As you are already aware, our main goal is to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for our students and staff. Our custodians perform a deep cleaning of each of our schools to ensure that our buildings are looking their best when students walk in on the first day. When you see our school custodians, please take a moment to thank them for their tremendous efforts.
During the 2022-2023 school year, we will maintain a focus on four priority areas as outlined in our 2025 Strategic Plan:
- Fiscal Responsibility
- Student Services and Needs
- Curriculum: Instruction/Technology
- Community Involvement
With the many announcements and scheduling information forthcoming from our district and schools, I encourage you to visit our website for frequent updates: www.ahsd125.org. Finally, if you have not done so already, please update your contact information through our TeacherEase Parent portal so we can keep you in the loop on all of our important happenings.
On behalf of the incredible team of educators and support staff who serve the children of Atwood Heights SD125, thank you for putting your faith in us to provide your children with a world-class education. We look forward to working with you throughout the year to ensure the success of all of our students.
Mrs. Lisa Doig-Cole
THE 5ESSENTIALS PARENT SURVEY IS NOW OPEN!
The Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey is now open through March 31st.
Parents, students, and teachers across Illinois have an opportunity to participate in the eleventh annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of school effectiveness in a survey.
The survey gathers data related to five indicators that can predict important student outcomes, including improved attendance and larger test score gains. These five indicators that affect and predict school success are:
- Effective Leaders
- Collaborative Teachers
- Involved Families
- Supportive Environments
- Ambitious Instruction
Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help the district understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement, as this data is utilized by our building leadership teams in our school improvement planning process. Please know your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child. Each school needs at least 20% parent participation to generate a detailed report that can be used for school improvement planning.
To take the survey please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ and select the appropriate survey to begin. If you have a student at more than one school, please fill out a survey for each school.
