District Announcements

Please take a moment to fill out the electronic versions of our Emergency Contact Information as well as the Self-Certification form which is required before students are allowed to return to school. This will also save you time from having to fill out a hard copy of it at Registration. Per our Smart Restart Plan, Parents/Guardians and the schools will be doing daily temperature checks on every student and staff member. We will send out periodic reminders since this form only has to be submitted once. It is an expectation that temperature checks are completed every morning before your child goes to school. If your child is found to have a temperature of 100.4 or greater, you (or your designated emergency contact) will need to pick them up within one hour of notification from the school. See more details on the Frequently Asked Questions document on the District webpage. Here are the 2 forms:

    Dear District 125 Families,

First, we thank you for your support and understanding as we responded to the unexpected invasion of COVID-19 in March. We are very proud of the way District 125 handled the demands as we continued to educate and feed our students during this most unusual of circumstances. As you know, there continue to be concerns and questions related to how schools plan to reopen in August. While we are in the business of educating, our priority is the safety of our students and our employees. Be assured, we have been working diligently on District 125’s 2020-21 Smart Restart Plan. It is important to note that our plan is subject to change pursuant to updated public health guidance and changing public health conditions. While we want nothing more than to return to traditional schooling, we must also be proactive and prepare for a return to remote instruction in the event of a resurgence of the virus or a second wave in the fall.

We have gathered input from various stakeholders, and administrators have been planning for increased safety measures. Based upon the parent and staff input, we are pleased to share our D125 Smart Restart Plan.

In order to mitigate exposure risks but still build a sense of community, this hybrid model approach will allow the students to stay with the same group of students and staff members (as much as possible). This would be a combination of remote and face-to-face instruction as detailed below.

    Group A

    Group B

    Remote Instruction

    Remote Instruction

    Tuesday & Thursday

    In-person Instruction

    Remote Instruction

    Wednesday & Friday

    Remote Instruction

    In-person Instruction

If you would prefer to keep your child on full remote learning,  your child will still be put on schedule A or B; however, they will watch the lessons via Google Meet (either live or pre-recorded) on the days they would’ve attended in-person. These videos will be accessed through your child’s Google classroom accounts.  If you would like to request full remote instruction for your child, you must do so by August 12th so that we have enough time to make necessary adjustments.

We will notify you prior to August 25th (first day of student attendance) as to which cohort your child is in. We will do our best to keep siblings in the same cohort group across the buildings for child care purposes.

Our priority is to keep everyone safe while not making life more difficult for our parents, and we fully understand your concerns. As we continue our planning process, we plan to keep you updated through email, website updates and robocalls. Thank you for your continued support and positivity as we strive to do what is best for ALL of our students and employees during these challenging times. For your convenience, we have created a COVID-19 Parent Resource Document (PDF link) which is also posted on our district website.  In this you will find our safety protocols, FAQs, and other helpful information you may need. In the event your concern is not addressed on the COVID-19 Parent Resource Document, please add your concern to our D125 Return to School Questionnaire that can also be found on our website at

The one guiding principle that has become our North Star as we plan for returning to school, is protecting the health, safety, and wellbeing of our students and staff.

Dr. Thomas Livingston, Superintendent of Schools
