    October 29, 2020

Good Morning Atwood Heights District 125 Families,

Our District Reintegration Plan is in the works but continues to be affected by a number of factors such as changes in the CDC and IDPH guidance as well as a myriad of state and local orders that continue to change at a dizzying pace. Unfortunately, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. We promise to keep the lines of communication flowing so that you are aware of our Reintegration plans throughout the District.

In anticipation that some families may choose to travel over the upcoming holidays, District 125 will be completely remote from November 23rd – January 4th. This will help avoid multiple cohort quarantines due to holiday-related infections. The shift will allow families who opt to travel or attend family gatherings to quarantine for 14 days.

Our students and staff have shown great resilience since the start of the school year, quickly adopting the measures that we put in place to help protect the health and safety of everyone in the buildings per CDC/IDPH guidelines. We are continuing to closely monitor the situation and will continue to make any necessary changes should that risk change. In the event, any of our schools go remote prior to the holidays, classes will still be taught synchronously as we have been doing. Please make sure your child is logged into their classes and participating.

Our Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held virtually on November 23rd from 4-8pm and November 24th from 8am – 12pm. Our staff members will be contacting you to sign-up for conferences using the SignUp Genius App.

We certainly understand the issues that the pandemic has caused and are actively seeking out support for our families during this time. Thank you for sharing your concerns via email, surveys, and/or phone calls. Please reach out to your building principal for assistance if you are in need. It is imperative that you continue to check your TeacherEase email for updates. In addition to emails, we will send out robocalls, remind messages, update our social media and post on our District webpage.

As a final reminder, please remember to notify your child’s school if you or anyone in your family has been identified as a close contact or has a positive case in your household. By working together, we can keep our staff and students safe.

Please take a moment to fill out the electronic versions of our Emergency Contact Information as well as the Self-Certification form which is required before students are allowed to return to school. This will also save you time from having to fill out a hard copy of it at Registration. Per our Smart Restart Plan, Parents/Guardians and the schools will be doing daily temperature checks on every student and staff member. We will send out periodic reminders since this form only has to be submitted once. It is an expectation that temperature checks are completed every morning before your child goes to school. If your child is found to have a temperature of 100.4 or greater, you (or your designated emergency contact) will need to pick them up within one hour of notification from the school. See more details on the Frequently Asked Questions document on the District webpage. Here are the 2 forms:
